The Initial Idea

Most designs start with an original concept sketch or a photograph. These can be converted to a digital image by either scanning, or by re-creating totally within ArtCAM.

Often it is the customer who supplies you with their 2D design. This data
can come in a variety of data formats. ArtCAM can import most
map formats, including bmp, jpeg, tiff, gif, and also gives full support to vector file formats including; ai, eps, and retaining all the original layer information for dwg and dxf files.

Manufacture

ArtCAM can post process your toolpaths for most 3-axis and Rotary 4-axis CNC machines and will document you a report, showing the expected time needed to machine each toolpath. You are not limited to CNC manufacture, you are also able to export your ArtCAM models in STL format for Rapid prototyping. You are also able to create 2d and 3D toolpaths for Laser machining.

2D Design

You can then either create some unique artwork totally within ArtCAM or
use your imported 2D artwork as a base image to design around. Vector
outlines or areas of colour are then created to map out the various different elements of your design. ArtCAM’s 2D design tools have been designed to allow you to plan out your design quickly and accurately, but not in way that will inhibit your creativity.
